I wonder if the one Reddit was box weave and not Persian? Could it maybe be box drops?

Yes and no. The first cell in any "Persian Bead" is always going to be a box cell because there is no previous cell to make an inverted lock to (just like Full Persian 6 in 1). Box Drops has no inverted locks present at all.
