This tutorial demonstrates how to make the Half Persian 2 in 1 Spine (https://chainmaillers.com/maillepedia/486/) weave from a European 4 in 1 starter piece. Once the chain is established, it is separated from the sheet by the removal of one full row.
HP2-1 Spine leads to the following weaves:
Half Persian 2 Sheet 4 in 1 - https://chainmaillers.com/maillepedia/484/
HP2S4-1 Tube 2 (Etesian) - https://chainmaillers.com/maillepedia/1612/
HP2S4-1 Tube 3 (Tri-Force) - https://chainmaillers.com/maillepedia/1613/
HP2S4-1 Tube 4 (Power Tower) - https://chainmaillers.com/maillepedia/1620/
Ring size:
An AR of 4.3 is used in this demonstration. It doesn't matter that the European 4 in 1 uses a larger ring size because it will be removed. If you are planning on advancing to the tubes (higly recommended), adjust your AR accordingly. 5.4 for Etesian, 4.6 for Tri-Force, and 4.4 for Power Tower are good starting points, although they become easier to weave at slightly higher values. If you want to make a continual sheet, try 5.3 - 5.6.
1. Start with European 4 in 1. It doesn't have to be this long. Lengthening the chain is shown in the later steps.
2. Add the first row (blue), as a continuation of European 4 in 1.
3. Add the second row (violet), as a continuation of European 4 in 1.
4. Add the first ring to the third row (gold). This row uses Persian connectivity, so this ring must make an AE (around the eye) connection.
5. Complete the row by adding rings in the same manner with AE connections. This row is not secure on its own and the rings will shift around. The fourth row will secure them.
6. Add the first ring of the fourth row (light blue). It makes a TE connection through 2 rings of the previous row. These rings must be arranged properly first.
7. Add the second ring, making sure the rings of the previous row are leaning the correct way.
8. Add the third ring.
9. Complete the row.
10. Remove the row of European 4 in 1 that connects to the blue rings.
11. At the top right, the tenth ring is applied to the fourth row. It only passes through one ring.
Lengthening:
The following pictures show the top and bottom of the chain as it is continued.
12. Add a gold ring which makes a TE (through the eye) connection to the light blue and violet rings.
13. Add a blue ring to one violet ring.
14. Add a violet ring making an AE connection to the blue and gold rings just added.
15. Add a light blue ring to the gold ring, similar to step 11.
Repeat steps 12 - 15 to further lengthen the chain.
