Pros
  • beginner to advanced weaves
This book gave me lots of inspiration. I really like that the weaves are progressive so a beginner and expert feels comfortable. Having pictures of other variations of the weave is also helpful. I feel that I will always use this book. Looking forward to the sequel.

Pros
  • Loads of projects of varying skill levels, from quick & easy projects that take about a 1/2 hour, to long & epic projects that will have you sitting and mailling for an 8 hour shift. Helpful tips scattered throughout the book. Detailed instructions to go with the wonderful pictures. Variations of some of the included projects.
Cons
  • No projects were included from the European or Persian weave families. Material lists were not consistent. They changed from Base Metals with Precious Metals substitutions on some projects to Precious Metals with Base Metals substitutions.
Chained by Rebeca Mojica belongs in the library of any serious mailler.

For those new to the art, to long time practitioners, there is something for everyone in this book. It starts out with a chapter aptly titled "Starting Out". Chock full of information including how rings are made, facts about metals, techniques of opening and closing rings, ring measurements, explanation of Aspect Ratio, etc. In other words, information anyone new to chainmaille, or those needing a refresher, will find useful.

From there it moves on to the meat of the book. Chapters full of amazing projects in the families of Japanese, Byzantine, and Helm weaves and closes with a chapter on "Coiled" weaves. All tutorial steps are shown with full color pictures.
