Dead soft or Half hard?

Hi, newbie here. Couple of questions. I’ve started making my own jump rings and I’m wondering which wire temper is best to use in sterling silver - dead soft or half hard? I’ve been using half hard, but on rings of 8 mm and larger I’m getting close to 1 mm of spring back and I don’t know if that is normal? Any help would be appreciated.

For chainmaille, I would go for as hard a temper you can work with. Personally, I go for what my supplier sells as “hard temper”.

10% springback is expectedz
