Duplicate weaves
Fourever square & Flor de la Cantuta
While they may look very similar, and have points in common, they are most definitely NOT duplicate weaves. It's probably easiest to show you :)

Here is Flor de la Cantuta on the left and Fourever Square on the right.

Please note, in the following renders, I have changed the direction of the mobius in Fourever Square (from that of its entry render) so that they are rotating in the same direction as the Flor de la Cantuta render.
Base .jpg

First difference is the positioning of the "blue" rings that:
  • In the case of Flor, are linear.
  • In the case of Fourever, are offset/biased.

Second difference is that if we take away the "blue" rings, you will see that:
  • In the case of Flor, the mobius are connected to each adjacent mobius.
  • In the case of Fourever, the mobius are not connected to each other in any way.

Hopefully this helps show why they are not duplicate weaves. :D

ah. I missed that the Brejo flowers aren't connected in one.
If you rotate one of the sheets 45 deg, they look incredibly similar.

Great catch, normally I notice that kind of stuff. Yes, if you rotate Fourever Square 45 degrees, it would look almost exactly like Flor de la Cantuta. I guess my difference regarding the "positioning" of the blue rings is actually irrelevant then, since the positioning is exactly the same, lol

What I have listed as the "second difference" above is the only one that really matters, the fact that the mobius are directly connected to each other in Brejao Flowers (and by extension, Flor de la Cantuta) and are not directly connected to each other in Fourever Square.
