Photo Tutorial Glass Ring Celtic Necklace

Author's Note
Our projects were very popular during the lifetime of our business and we wanted to ensure they continued to provide inspiration for chain maillers whatever their experience. It's a pleasure to see they will live on with Chainmaillers.com

Glass Ring Celtic Necklace

Weave a strip of this easy Celtic helms-based weave with square profile jump rings, embellish with complementary Czech glass rings and add a 2-in-2 chain to make this simple necklace.

The same ring sizes are used in the Celtic Pendant project so you can make two different projects with one set of rings, click here.

The helms weave part of this necklace forms the outer circle of the Beaded Rosette project, click here.

  2. Weave one large silver ring (C) between the pairs of square ice blue rings from step 1 so that you encircle the silver medium ring (B) as in the left-hand picture.

Fold back the square ice blue rings (D) attached on one side, to make it easier to close the large ring you have just woven (middle picture).

Reposition the folded back square ice blue rings over the new inner ring (C) just added (right-hand picture).

  3. Link two closed ice blue square rings (D) with one medium ring (B) to the last two ice blue square rings on the chain, as in the left-hand picture.

Repeat step 2 to add the large inner ring (C), as in the right-hand picture.

Continue adding rings in this way until your chain is eleven pairs of ice blue square rings (D) long. Link one medium ring (B) to the last pair of ice blue square rings. This is helms weave chain.

Continue adding small rings (A) in this way to the uppermost part of the chain until you reach the end.

  7. Using thirty six chain rings (F) each time, make two 2-in-2 chains.

Open the single medium ring (B) at one end of the helms chain and attach one 2-in-2 chain. Link a second medium ring (B) to make the chain secure. Repeat to attach the second chain to the other end of the helms chain.
