Instructions
Important Note: To make the helms weave stiff it needs to be made with THREE red square profile rings (see main picture). The instructions below show it made with only two red square rings.- Close sixteen green rings (A). Link one red ring (B) to two closed green rings (A) – this ring (B) is the starter ring.
- Link one red ring (B) to two more closed green rings (A) and the green rings added in the previous step. Add a second and third red ring (B) - the third ring is not shown in the picture.
- Fold back the top green ring (A), which is attached on only one side.
- Weave one open green ring (A) between the first pair of green rings so that you encircle the three red rings (B). Close the green ring (A).
- Return the folded back ring over the green ring (A) just added.
- Using three red rings (B), link two more closed green rings (A) to the last rings in your helms weave.
- Repeat steps 3-5 to add the centre ring that encircles the three red rings.
- Continue making a helms weave chain until you have a chain that has seven sets of three red rings (B)
Remove the red starter ring and join the two chain ends with three gold rings (C) - the third ring is not shown in the picture.
- Link two large gold rings (E) through the three gold rings (C) with which you joined the helms chain in step 8. Position the two new gold rings on either side.
Link two medium gold rings (D) through the three gold rings (C) from step 8 so that they lie on top of the gold rings (E) just added.
Link two gold rings (C) through the three gold rings (C) from step 8 so that they lie on top of the gold rings (D) just added.
- To complete the bow effect, link three red rings (B) through the gold rings (C) from step 8.
