Ginger Garnitz submitted a new resource:

Basic 4 sided die wrap - compiled from a series of posts by Stephanie Trevino-Ballard July 17. 2014, by permission.

Stephanie posted this on the chain maille FB page as a series of photos with captions. I compiled them into one page. Stephanie kindly gave permission for posting this here.

View attachment 247 The above image shows the "step down" - basically adding a slightly smaller ring into the connector to tighten the fit of the cage. In some cases you can just swap out the original larger ring for the single smaller ring.

I really love these dice but I don't know the best place to buy some. I was wanting to get a mix of colors and sides but they can be expensive.

Loads of dice can be found here:

[parsehtml]<a target="_blank" href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=as_li_qf_sp_sr_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&index=aps&keywords=d%20%26%20d%20dice%20sets&linkCode=ur2&tag=chainmaillers-20&linkId=4X6R2WL6DV5KJOUL">d &amp; d dice sets</a><img src="https://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=chainmaillers-20&l=ur2&o=1" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" />.[/parsehtml]

Of course, the nicer they get, the more expensive they are, but there are some decent looking ones that aren't that bad. :)

I'm hoping to maybe find someone who used to play D and D and wants to give up their set but it may be a slim chance. :) I will just have to buy a full set and do one color at a time. What brands are recommended? Chessex seems to be the top brand on eBay at least

LOL, good luck with that. Most D&D people are the "pry them from my cold dead hands" type ;) I know that I haven't played in probably about 25 years and couldn't think of giving my dice to anyone. Even my kids, I'd probably just loan them to. :D

As for recommended brands, personal opinion is that it probably doesn't matter. For the most part, I believe, dice are mold injected plastic, unless you're talking artisan dice and then the prices go through the roof. For "Die Wrapping" you can probably go with just about anything that you like the way it looks. It doesn't really matter if a company is known for off balance dice if you're not going to be using their product for actual gaming.

If you have a local gaming shop you could try there for dice. The sets themselves are usually a little pricey, but most usually have a jar of random dice at the counter for cheap. When I started drilling dice I used that discount bin for my first attempts. I think I paid $2 for ten dice of various sizes. They weren't the prettiest, but they were throw aways anyways.

I have not tried this one yet, but I wonder if there is a tutorial for some of the other types of dice that you get for D&D or Magic?
