I have recently finished making a chainmail coif using 16 SWG aluminum rings with a 1/4" internal diameter and I wanted to start working on a hauberk. I would like advice on if 16 SWG aluminum rings with an ID of 6mm would be strong enough to comprise a butted hauberk or if they would fall apart. Advice would be greatly appreciated.
The difference in ring sizes is due to the fact that I bough the 1/4" ID rings pre-made while I plan on making the 6mm ID rings myself and I don't have a 1/4" or 6.5mm mandrel.
