Photo Tutorial European 4-1 Bias Necklace

Author's Note
Our projects were very popular during the lifetime of our business and we wanted to ensure they continued to provide inspiration for chain maillers whatever their experience. It's a pleasure to see they will live on with Chainmaillers.com

  • 2 clasp rings - matt silver (white) anodised aluminium saw cut jump rings, ID 3.8mm, WD 1.00mm
  • silver plated small keepsake Tierracast toggle, 9x13mm
Tools:
  • two pairs of smooth jawed chain nose, flat nose, or bent nose pliers

Instructions

NOTE: This is not a difficult weave - the difficulty comes in adding the correct coloured ring for the diagonal stripes. If you are using different colours to the project, make a note on a piece of paper that you can refer to, e.g. main colour (MC) = black, ice pink = red and so on.
Once you have completed a few rows of the pattern, you will hopefully begin to see the colour pattern and will not need to refer to the instructions.

  1. Close 4 white (MC), 1 ice pink, 2 ice blue, and 1 mauve ring.
Open 2 white (MC), 1 ice pink, and 1 mauve ring.

    • Link two closed white (MC) and one closed ice pink ring with one open mauve ring. Lay out the rings, making sure the rings are orientated in the same way as in the 1st picture.
    • Weave one white (MC) ring through the lower left hand ring and through the lower right hand ring. Add two closed ice blue rings before closing the jump ring (picture 2).
    • Weave one ice pink ring through the lower left hand ring and through the lower right hand ring. Add two closed white (MC) rings before closing the jump ring (picture 3).
    • Weave one white (MC) ring through the lower left hand ring and through the lower right hand ring. Add one closed mauve ring before closing the jump ring. Lay the mauve ring on the right hand side as shown in picture 4.

Variations

  • If you use black as your main colour, light colours are a good contrast or try black (MC) with gold and silver.
  • Try rainbow colours or shades of a single colour with silver or gold (MC).
  • Gold, red and orange are glowing colours with brown (MC).
