Captive Bead Sizes

Do you put thread through your beads? And if do, what do you use, and how do you end it?

It really depends on the bead - 6 mm Swarovski crystals work well with 18 G 1/4.

I have tried faceted 6mm beads with the 18 1/4 SWG and had no problem. Then I tried 6mm crystal pears that were smooth and it didn't work at all.

I also use 6 mm Swarovski Crystals for 18g 1/4". I also read somewhere that using faceted crystals helps the captured bead stay.

Someone posted a three strand captive bead bracelet on the FB Chain Maille group, Has anyone done that? Any suggestions on what size to use to connect? Thanks in Advance.

I use 18g 17/64" for 6mm beads.

I have no problems with 18g 1/4' and 6 mm round beads.

Crystals are usually easier to work with because they are more uniform. Stone beads are tricky sometimes I have to buy several strands to get enough usable ones. But they look great.
