We have heard that some users have concerns regarding the Date of Birth requirement for registering and would like to address those concerns.
We ask for a date of birth to make sure that all users are over 13 years of age to comply with COPPA regulations.
Users have two privacy settings related to their date of birth. These settings are available on a users account details page.
show day and month of birth
and
show year of birth
Each individual user can choose to show both, one or the other, or neither.
In the interest of user privacy, we have changed the default setting for both of these to "do not show" and from this point forward, any users who register will have to "opt in" to make them visible.
Any users who have registered previous to this point will have to go into their account details page and uncheck the boxes next to these settings (if they have not already) to "opt out" of showing them.
We hope this alleviates any concerns you may have regarding the visibility of your date of birth.
